Finally some significant progress on the hobby front! I found plenty of time with friends to work on some models (still no painting though, naughty me) and this time I tackled the Space Hulk Genestealers. Hop in to see what I’ve been up to.
After a long week of work and unfavorable weather conditions (namely the worst blizzard and hail since the winter of 1982) the weekend brought the chance for my wife to go out for a nice photo shoot in snow covered Istanbul and for me to meet my high school buddies who are still interested in WH40k for a painting and modelling workshop. Just like old times! I brought my Space Hulk models as well as the Necron Lychguard I’m preparing for Xasf’s birthday (belated gift). Also in the Project Box I had some Plaguebearers but I ended up not working on them.
Fun times. I ended up working solely on the Lychguard, basing them and the Genestealers There’s just so many of them! No wonder people get burned up trying to paint these bugs. I also finished the clean-up and assembly of the Chalice and the Dead Terminator from the same sprues. I owe all this hype to the Deathwing trailer released last week. Check it out if you haven’t seen it yet:
I made the radical decision to assemble the models, seeing that I shouldn’t have much trouble reaching recesses on most of them. Besides, some figures have no assemblies and have recessed details, might as well get used to painting them. Now trying to decide if I want to prime them black or gray… I’m leaning towards black to avoid having to shade the depths.
While this certainly isn’t helping with my milestones or getting any project done from my backlog, I can at least use these models for the board game, which is pretty much the aim of this side-track. I’m really looking forward to finishing these before the terminators, which will probably bog me down a lot (many details and my obsession for perfection will be the death of me).
Finally I want to share the best advice I ever had in the hobby in a fun video. I think it’s self explanatory:
