I just wanted to share the latest update on the competition project I’m working on, the Black Legion themed Heldrake. So far I have gone through every single separate assembly that can be painted on their own, now all is left are the trickier parts that will receive paints first in the nooks and crannies and then get assembled. The wings have overlapping points that will probably have some visibility at least and I don’t want to overburden my brush skills by making it impossible to reach them. This will be the first model among my Warhammer kits to get painted during assembly, so that makes me a little nervous too. We’ll see how it goes.
Today (well, technically yesterday) marks the point where Roemer’s Workshop has received over 500 views! I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took the time to check out the pages and see me ramble about these kits. When I began the blog I was almost certain that this would be a monologue of me chronicling my deeds for future review by myself. And boy, was I proven wrong! With your support, I look forward to sharing my hobby journey for as long as I can hold a brush straight!
I just wanted to share a quick WIP update on the Heldrake competition piece today. Cleaned all the mold lines on the smaller subsections and assembled the talons, the neck and the spine armor. By the gods of chaos, I really would like to know why exactly GW decides to run the mold lines especially over spikes and ribbed areas! The head is still at a dry fit, I want to fully assemble it only after I paint inside the mouth. I reckon it will be quite difficult with the minigun sticking out in the first place. The head itself gives a fair amount of articulation for posing, I guess I’ll assemble it towards the end when I’m absolutely sure about the base and other components. In other news, I’m expecting my long overdue order to arrive soon, as my retailer informs, so I can begin with the more delicate parts of the model in the weekend. Then again, the order also includes new models, I hope I won’t succumb to the frenzy of assembling them!
It has been a while since I last posted here. The past weekend was not very forgiving in regards to life events and I had absolutely no time to spend on any kind of model in my possession. Now that things are getting back to normal again, I’m returning to the projects at hand. Find out what I’ve been up to after the jump. (more…)
