Welcome to another review on the Workshop! Today I’m taking a look at the portable light box Foldio2, released recently through a Kickstarter campaign by orangemonkie. You may remember that I have reviewed the first model as well – this version has quite a few improvements and changes based on the feedback received for the previous model, so check out what I think about this product after the jump.
And what do you know, we’ve reached the 100th post in the Workshop! Time really does fly when you’re having fun. You’re in for quite a treat today. After quite a few weeks of inactivity I decided to get back to the hobby front in full force and start completing some projects at hand. And as promised, the next showcase following the Dreadknight is the Necron Lychguard, intended as a birthday gift to my fellow hobbyist Xasf. Took my sweet time on the models but in the end I’m content with the results. I also have some further news regarding the position I’ll take on the blog as well as some nice last WIP and showcase pics of the Lychguard, but for that you’ll have to make the jump!
It sure has been some time since this spot got an update on the hobby front. I’m finding it increasingly difficult to spare time for the miniatures at hand and it’s bugging me like hell. However not all is lost for I have spent some time on assembling yet another kit in preparation for my “overhaul” – and this is much needed as I have been feeling disoriented for quite a bit now. At my day job I get all kinds of excited about what kind of blends I will use on my miniature surfaces and what techniques I’ll try in painting but by the time I get back home I get the feeling of exhaustion and lose the will to paint! Quite a pity considering that I have put out a whopping two showcase minis and created an immense backlog of projects to tackle.
But enough of the usual rant, here’s a little Shadowsword (!) I have put together in tack in preparation for primer much later.
So why the title you may ask… I’m using my second week of vacation the coming week and the Workshop will be closed once again! So until next time, be well and who knows – there may be a surprise in the next post!
There’s been a long silence in this place, much longer than I liked in fact. Between work, extraordinary events and family tragedies I just couldn’t find the time to spend on the hobby – but it seems things are turning for the better. So in the little time I could scrape beginning this week I’ve put together a new model, readied for primer. Hop in to see what I’ve been up to.
In today’s review I’m taking a look at a recent purchase – the Feldherr MINI PLUS 32 Figure Case. I have planned to exclusively use this for my Space Hulk miniatures but of course the case can be used for any other standard wargaming miniature (28mm and similar). Take a look at some shots and comments after the jump.
Another short update this time. This week I made some more progress with the Lychguard – sorry no Showcase posts for the week as I threw down the towel a bit too early on the work trench it seems and still suffer from irregular office hours. I did finish (I think) the golds on the ornaments and am ready to switch to the healthy green glow on the weapons and shields, base colors put down on those and looking for the next opportunity to paint a bit more. Here’s the tally of last weekend’s session.
As the title pic suggests Xasf joined me this week to work on his Necrons – a lot faster than me to say the truth – and finished his Ghost Ark. Way to go man!
Looking forward to the weekend for more painting and hopefully, finally finishing the Lychguard and gift them. It’s about time I got to other models now!
See what I did there? Yeah. Anyways, the results for my first poll attempt are out and the public has decided. Priority posting goes to the Space Hulk Genestealers and the Random Encounter! dwarf miniature after the showcase of the Lychguard which I hope to have published sometime next week, if not on Monday as scheduled. It seems my business schedule has finally started to clear a bit and I can normal working hours again – so I want to make the best use of what little time I may have.
Here’s the result page. For a time I thought the Maulerfiend would prevail following the Tyranids but fans of Random Encounter emerged quickly. Overall the poll got 32 hits which is not too shabby for the first attempt. Hoping for a better population pool to assess next time!
I’m planning to have the Genestealer posts consolidated into batch sessions as there are 22 of them plus their Broodlord and have the Random Encounter! mini as a more focused series where I practice some techniques I feared using. Exciting times I reckon, so stick around for a nice serving of painting.
