WIP Update – 12.08.2015

It’s been a while since my last WIP post due to overseas travel and a helluva last week with work and various catch-up activities. I did find some time to spend on more models and little time to dedicate solely to painting so let’s get to the progress thus far.

Review: Horus Heresy Drop Assault

This post is updated to have a plethora of endgame content, so be sure to check below!

Welcome to another review post on Roemer’s Workshop. Today I’m taking a look at the fresh iOS game taking place during the Horus Heresy, specifically during the Isstvan campaign right after the virus bombing of the Loyalist forces. At the end I’ll also list a few tactics I found to be effective for those who would like to start out this game. Check out the details after the jump.

Hobby Getaway and Screamer Progress

We had another board game day with my pals from high school this past weekend, which is fast becoming a regular event it seems. The Saturday was dominated by Horus Heresy the Board Game and Warhammer 40k: Relic, which we enjoyed immensely. On Sunday we had another meeting with FigurinIstanbul this time in Pegasus, a hobby shop that also sells WH miniatures in Istanbul for a workshop on how to paint realistic faces. Lastly, I did some minor work to completely assemble the Screamers of Tzeentch. Hop in for a peek at what I’ve been up to, which includes my first attempt at recapping events in a board game!

Horus Heresy Boardgame, Trygon Update and “Random Progress”

The past weekend has been a great opportunity to make up for all that time lost due to sickness, work at the office and general procrastination in the hobby department. Even though I haven’t spent a great deal of time to paint my ongoing projects I received quite a bit of goodies to give me ideas with the Random Encounter miniature and got to play a terrific board game. Hop in to see what I’ve been up to after the jump.

The Legion

Moving on with the finished models… Here is the test unit I got for the new Black Legion army I am preparing for display. This little fella is from the Chaos Space Marine Battleforce pack and is part of a 10-man infantry squad. Find out more angles of the model and some WIP shots after the jump, as well as my thoughts on the Black Legion.

The Warmaster

Yesterday Forgeworld announced the new model in their Horus Heresy character series which I have followed for some time. So far the series contained the major antagonist primarch models of the Horus Heresy era in addition to other notable characters such as Khârn the Betrayer, Typhon and Abaddon. Forgeworld is well-known for their finely detailed resin models, and this new addition to the series is no exception:

Horus, Warmaster to the Armies of Mankind

Considering my current Black Legion themed Chaos Space Marine army, this news pretty much made my day. Sculpted by Simon Egan (who is the go-to person for gritty realistic soldiers like Krieg units and Chaos titans) the model looks like it will be the most detailed primarch to date when released. And that lands the model in the number 1 spot for my wish list!

The series also includes characters from the Loyalist side. This begs the question if the company will release a model for Sanguinus of the Blood Angels and the God-Emperor as well… I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Perhaps a diorama of the final confrontation aboard the Vengeful Spirit?

One can only hope.

How do you like the Horus model?
